In order to identify specific construction locations as city projects, the public improvement signs for Lenexa were streamlined to have a primary signature color, with the flexibility of breaking out into color-specific variations as needed. As part of this design, the gold Lenexa wheat was brought into a textured band, and then also expanded into wider options depending on the size and print restrictions of each format. The designs were also created to allow integration with the 3/8-cent logo, for the specific projects which required funding notifications.

Brand awareness was key in connecting the signage to the city's existing brand, and so elements such as the blue, gold, and wheat of the city's logo were brought into the new design, while also given more vibrancy and variation to help enhance visual interest.
